My Biography

I was born in 1973 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, and was raised in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. After completing high school at the Polyvalent Thomas Albert in 1991, I attended the Université de Moncton, where I earned my Bachelor of Science (Honours Chemistry) Degree in 1995. As part of that degree, I took classes in computer programming, where I learned Pascal. I later, while working as a summer research assistant, learned C.

While I was at the Université de Moncton, I completed my Private Pilot's Licence (Aeroplane). My interest in aviation continued after graduation, and I eventually obtained my Commercial Pilot's Licence (Aeroplane). I worked as a flight instructor and commercial pilot for a number of years, until the events of September 11, 2001, all but killed the aviation industry. In that time, I eventually earned my Airline Transport Pilot's Licence (Aeroplane).

With jobs in aviation drying up, I decided to return to school and earned my Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2005. I did work as a lawyer practising criminal and family law for a little over 13 years. Eventually, however, I wanted something different, and something more, so I took a one-year contract position as a Bilingual Fulfillment Coordinator at TPS Promotions & Incentives.

Throughout these years, I never lost my interest in computer technology. I would create small projects in C and taught myself a limited amount of C++. Indeed, my law practice was heavily technological, and when I was a partner at Metelsky Plourde LLP, I was in charge of maintaining the firm’s technological needs, gaining experience with configuring and operating Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and several legal software packages dependent on SQL and one on SQLite.

A few years ago, I decided to pursue computer programming and application or software development for a living, and started learning C# from Tim Corey via his YouTube channel and his paid courses on I Am Tim Corey. The full list of courses I have completed through Tim can be seen in the Learning Path section of my Portfolio on this site.

While I was at TPS, I was exposed to Oracle NetSuite, and self-taught myself enough that I was offered a permanent full-time position as the Systems Operations Manager where I oversaw the company’s technological requirements, including its ecommerce platforms and it’s highly-customized NetSuite instance, including native NetSuite and third-party bundle and SuiteApp installations. I did in-house SuiteFlow and SuiteScript development, including a top-to-bottom re-write of the code that integrated the NetSuite instance with our premier ecommerce system which hosted company estores for our major customers such as Starbucks Coffee Canada, Toyota Canada Inc., Honda Canada, and Schneider Electric Canada. I oversaw the deployment of several SuiteApps, including Advanced Projects, Versapay, and NetSuite WMS. I also earned my Oracle NetSuite Certifications for:

  • Oracle NetSuite Certified SuiteAnalytics User
  • Oracle NetSuite Certified Financial User
  • Oracle NetSuite Certified SuiteFoundation
  • Oracle NetSuite Certified Administrator
  • Oracle NetSuite Certified SuiteCloud Developer II
  • Oracle NetSuite Certified ERP Consultant
